Parent Information - Kindergarten Enrolment for 2019

Bellevue Hill Public School looks forward to warmly welcoming Kindergarten students starting school in 2019.

We have a range of school tours and parent information sessions on offer as well as Kindergarten orientation sessions planned for your smooth transition into our wonderful school community.

Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year.  By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday.

It is important that you let us know if your child has any special circumstances, allergies, health or medical conditions, before your child starts school.

When to start your child at school is an individual decision. You may want to discuss this with us or with your child's preschool teacher, carer or doctor.

* Please see our Enrolment page for detailed information about enrolling your child at Bellevue Hill Public School. *

* To find out whether you live within the Bellevue Hill Public School catchment area please search for your address using the School Finder website.*

* School tours are currently being held. Please see our School Tours page for more information. *

 IMPORTANT DATES:

Transition to school:

We have a set of planned activities to assist your child to make a smooth transition to Kindergarten. Research indicates that children who settle quickly into school are more likely to be socially competent and achieve better results.

Kindergarten Orientation sessions are held over 4 mornings in Term 4.

Group One Orientation Dates: Monday 12th November to Thursday 15th November

Group Two Orientation Dates: Monday 19th November to Thursday 22nd November

Please hand in your enrolment forms and supporting documents to the School office as soon as possible so we can inform you which dates your child has been allocated.

There will be two Parent Information Evening sessions running for those who have handed in their enrolment forms for 2019.

Tuesday 4th September 6pm OR

Thursday 6th September 9.30am

These sessions will assist parents as they prepare their children for school. The program is designed to provide a broad overview of life at Bellevue Hill Public School. You will receive a Bellevue Hill Public School Information Pack which will include suggestions on how to make a smooth and easy transition to school.

Further Information:

Kindergarten is an important year of schooling as children formally begin to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. Our whole school community will help your child adjust to school and help them to feel comfortable.

Preparing for Kindergarten: You can help your child prepare for Kindergarten and be organised for the first day. Watch what happens on a typical day in Kindergarten classrooms. Visit our school to help your child feel more comfortable and to start getting to know people there.

Best Start Kindergarten Assessment: The best start assessment is a tool to help teachers assess your child's skills as they enter school, and to tailor teaching to their individual needs. Teachers will sit with your child when they start school to assess your child's literacy and numeracy skills so that they can develop an appropriate teaching program that caters for your child.
